About the Role:

TP Human Capital is partnering with a government client in Townsville to find an experienced aquarist! You’ll help us move animals to a temporary holding facility and care for them there.
The role operates within a 5-day rotational roster, covering weekends, public holidays, on-call duties, and potentially after-hours activities.

  • Maintain aquaria exhibits and life support systems as per policies and procedures.
  • Participate in dive maintenance feeding, animal care, on-call, and system check rosters.
  • Contribute to the development of husbandry techniques, exhibit protocols, and new exhibits.
  • Assist in coral propagation and other aquaculture responsibilities as needed.

Essential Requirements:

  • Compliance with aquaria exhibit and life support system maintenance protocols.
  • Participation in dive maintenance, feeding, and animal care duties.
  • Contribution to the development of husbandry techniques and exhibit protocols.
  • Collaboration on coral propagation and aquaculture responsibilities.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • SCUBA diving certification meeting GBRMPA requirements.
  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in Marine Biology, Aquaculture, etc.
  • Completion of E-quarist course or similar.
  • Previous experience in animal disease control and biosecurity.
  • Proficiency in coral propagation and reef ecosystems.
  • Mechanical aptitude and workshop tools experience.
  • Experience in mentoring and providing on-the-job training.
  • Possession of a current Australian driver’s licence.
