ACTION? sloth like Government
We received the following Advocacy Alert from Townsville Enterprise in my email yesterday 16/03/2016 and like a lot of people are reminded of the complete lack of action by our government. All we seem to hear these days is words similar to:
- reports
- due process
- working groups
- committee
- steering committees, panels
- letters, motions, discussions, surveys…..
I’m sick of it and I’m sure most people are. What we need is decisive ACTION. This little important thing called action creates results. Results are something we need desperately in the region for the benefit of jobs. Sure you can do reports and have meetings to discuss, but the timeframes and ‘talk’ are simply ridiculous. GET ON WITH IT!!
Enjoy your week, regards Clayton Cook.
Bipartisan support of Adani welcomed and must now be followed by action
Townsville Enterprise has welcomed the Queensland Parliament’s bipartisan support of Adani’s $16.5B Carmichael Mine Project, but has urged the Government to act swiftly to grant the Adani mining lease.
On Tuesday night, the Queensland Parliament agreed to a motion to “immediately provide all State Government approvals necessary for Adani’s Carmichael Mine to proceed to help drive the creation of thousands of jobs for Central and Northern
Queensland.”
Townsville Enterprise welcomes the commitment, however action is needed as this region simply cannot afford any more delays.
This project proposes thousands of jobs for the region at a time when we need them most. We are calling on the Government to follow its words with action and to sign off on Adani’s mining licence.
While we recognise that it’s important to follow due process for all project approvals, this project has been obstructed by indecision and uncertainty for too long.
This is about more than the approval of one project, getting the Adani project off the ground will open up the Galilee Basin, create jobs and economic infrastructure and give the region a desperately needed confidence boost.
